Sue Eckl, Sand Catcher

"If I could save time in a bottle

The first thing that I'd like to do

Is to save everyday
till eternity passes away

Just to spend them with you."

- Jim Croce

While we can't slow down the sand as it runs through our hourglass, we can let it run through our fingertips and take time to appreciate it. I see photography as a way to put that sand in a bottle so we can look at it and smile and remember special moments that make up our lives.

Biography

I won my first camera in a coloring contest when I was ten years old. From then on, everyone and every event has been a photo opportunity for me.

I continued my love of photography in high school where I learned about photography, processing and printing both in black and white and color. I remember my teacher walking around the dark room cheerfully singing to us in the Cinderella tune, "Someday, my "prints" will come!"

I graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication and focused on photography courses as well.

I worked professionally in graphic design and had my own graphic design business. While raising my three girls I continued my passion for capturing time through photography through 10's of thousands of photos of all their special moments and activities including softball, color guard, and marching band. I have always enjoyed taking pictures for the team members families as well.

Through time, I have focused my professional work on senior portraiture. I also enjoy creating special moments of families, couples and children. I enjoy highlighting what makes my clients unique and focus on emphasizing that in the finished photos.

Of special interest is what I call "Specialty" photos. With my skills in Photoshop, I enjoy capturing movement through layers and special photo editing. See my Rates tab for more information.

I look forward to hearing from you and setting up an appointment to help you save the sand in your hourglass of memories
